The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said a breach reported by the Qilin ransomware group constituted a "major incident" under federal cybersecurity reporting rules. The agency notified Congress and the Justice Department opened an investigation into the alleged compromise of ATF systems.
